Equity Works is a small but rapidly growing community service organisation based on the Sunshine Coast. The organisation commenced when parents from a local special school banded together and lobbied the local government for funding for a Respite house to support children with disability. (more…)

Helen Keller once said: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Her words have rung true in the heart of a small regional town in Queensland where small efforts at community collaboration have brought a diverse group of people together to invest in the lives of local families.
With the Hinterland Connections Governance Workshop booked out within days of release, the Sunshine Coast Coalition of Community Boards is pleased to announce their next workshop, Strengthening Coastal Connections.
To be held on Thursday April 9 at the Maroochydore Community Centre, this workshop is designed for boards of small and local community organisations. Book fast as places are limited. RSVP Kay Maclean: kaymcl9@msn.com

It’s been a busy year for the Sunshine Coast group. As we close the year, we are please to have developed a strategy and action plan which will facilitate a number of opportunities for groups to collaborate, share and review how they can strengthen their position. (more…)
Following on from the Sunshine Coast Discussion Forum held last year, a group of board members and supporters from local community organisations have been working to form the Sunshine Coast Coalition of Community Boards.
Last month, those efforts were recognised by the Queensland Community Fund, awarding the group a grant to advance their work on the Sunshine Coast.
The working group now are now formalising their strategic plan with the view to begin a collaborative project shortly.
Board members and supporters of local community groups are invited to register their interest in being part of the formative stages of this project.
When collaborations develop, it is hard to think about recording the process. With a big thanks to Lyndall and the Sunshine Coast Coalition of Community Boards the following template questions have been developed to help in this process. (more…)
